Light novels are a medium, not a genre.

* DesignatedLoveInterest: Mitsuki. There is little backstory in the light novel that might justify romantic attraction between Yuuto and Mitsuki, and even less in the anime. Yet, Mitsuki is the girl Yuuto keeps holding out for, no matter how his harem in Yggdrasil throws themselves at him, and said harem has very attractive women, without exception.
* SpecialEffectFailure: The animation of the anime adaptation is subpar and the art is amateurish. Fight scenes that are supposed to be important [[BattleOfTheStillFrames consist entirely of still frames]] or low grade CGI. The character designs are generic, and combined with poor sound balancing and a cheap soundtrack that resorts to ''pitch shifting'' just to make a track more exciting.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Where do we even begin. What's clear is that the anime adaptation does not do the story justice. The source material is actually a very profound and well-developed story which delves into concepts most isekai either gloss over or skip outright, but are never covered in the anime because it skips most of volumes 1 and 2 and cherry picks things from volumes 3-7. The list below is hardly exhaustive.
** There are no TranslatorMicrobes. LanguageBarrier is a real issue as Yuuto has to learn the language of Yggdrasil, a dialect of Norse, entirely by immersion alone. Public education in the area doesn't even begin until Yuuto's been the patriarch for at least three years.
** Yuuto's summoning is not welcome with open arms. He is viewed as an intruder and Siegrune has a sword at his throat before he can even blink.
** Due to the terrible hygiene during the bronze age, as well as the virtually non-existent medical care, which is what Yggdrasil is experiencing when Yuuto arrives, and the fact that Yuuto was not vaccinated against any of the microscopic flora or fauna of the area has him nearly die of illness soon after arrival.
** The light novel goes into extensive and graphic descriptions of the horrors of war and slavery in the area, which doesn't have combat medics and where fallen soldiers are left to die where they fall, unless they somehow can crawl back home on their own, Yuuto being the first patriarch to ever round up survivors and carry them back during retreat.
** Yuuto is extremely reluctant in GivingRadioToTheRomans until he realizes the Wolf clan, where he's stuck living, is surrounded by enemies who would all happily enslave or exterminate every man woman and child to lay claim to the territory, thus forcing him to share modern tech, or die.
** While the anime skips the romance entirely and shoe-horns Yuuto into being a ChasteHero, in the original source, only Mitsuki's affection is questionable. Every one of the girls in Yuuto's Yggdrasil harem has a long romance arc that justifies her feelings for him, and he reciprocates, intimately, once he believes they're equal romantic partners, and not acting out of an emotional, or mistaken, sense of duty, fear of punishment, as slaves who have no choice, or guilt-tripping, as Felicia, the most prominent, initially offers herself up to him purely out of guilt at being entirely responsible for accidentally summoning Yuuto and putting him through numerous near-death experiences, his illness being the first.
* TorchTheFranchiseAndRun: Either the team responsible for the adaptation had an EpicFail in making a teaser encouraging light novel sales, or the series was trashed intentionally. It's hard to conceive any other reason(s) for screwing the pooch this badly.

** Together with constant usage
the art is amateurish. Fight scenes that are supposed to be important [[BattleOfTheStillFrames consist entirely of BattleOfTheStillFrames, animation cheats like side views still frames]]. The character designs are generic, and combined with poor sound balancing, balancing and a cheap soundtrack that resorts to ''pitch shifting'' just to make a track more exciting, even some of the staunchest fans of the genre switch to ''actual pornography'' out of disgust upon watching this.

* ClicheStorm: Invoked by it's detractors as such even among other isekai works. The main detractors of MORBOE state that this or at least it's CompressedAdaptation which was only 12 episodes long is the culmination of every trope found in the modern isekai light novel genre in TheNewTens taken {{up to eleven}} and was subsequently spun into the worst possible thing. For example, the protagonist's harem has at least ''3'' little girls, complete with BigBrotherAttraction. Every other male character exists to be either a)someone to be called out by the protagonist, b)a side character that won't steal the spotlight or c)simply be killed off if he is an enemy on defeat without a thought instead of the female cast who will immediately join the harem instead. The protagonist's constant usage of GivingRadioToTheRomans practically gives no thought as to how it could possibly cause any negative consequences in the future. The CompressedAdaptation made things even worse with it's subpar animation and amateur-level art. Together with constant usage of BattleOfTheStillFrames, animation cheats like side views combined with poor sound balancing, even staunchest fans of the genre switch to ''actual pornography'' out of disgust upon watching this. It's so bad that a famous reviewer that hates ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnline'' with a burning passion finds himself begging for it's next season to be animated after watching this instead.
