• Captain Obvious Reveal: Eobard Thawne having been behind the events of the previous few episodes of the season. The manipulations and Barry's apparent "lost memory" were so firmly in his modus operandi that it would have been more shocking if he were not the culprit, to the point that many fans suspected it to be his doing as early as the previous episode.
• I Knew It!: Many fans predicted that Eobard Thawne was behind Barry's alleged insanity and Joe's death.
• Like You Would Really Do It: After losing his powers several times already, along with an entire arc across Seasons 6 and 7 dealing with getting them back, it becomes difficult to take the idea of Jefferson saying Barry losing them will be completely permanent seriously.
• Narm:
  • Chester's grandmother's television that he borrows for the experiment comes off as a joke that's as out of date as the television is supposed to be.^note CRT televisions were pushed out by flatscreens in the mid-2000's, so much so that even elderly folk nowadays own one. And while they do still make rabbit ears antenna, they're only the cheapest, most disposable kind, so in reality, the grandma would have a more modern rectangular antenna, either as a block on a stand or as a flat panel attached to the wall. There's also no sign of a converter box, which that TV would need to receive modern digital signals since 2009, but that could be chalked up to Chester leaving it at the house due to it being unneeded.
  • It is really hard to take Cecile's breakdown seriously, considering how over-the-top it is. Her yelling at Caitlin and Iris for not knowing Joe as well as she does (despite the former knowing Joe for years before Cecile came aboard and the latter being his own daughter) only adds to it.
