YMMV / The Flash 2014 S 4 E 4 Elongated Journey Into Night

• Alternative Character Interpretation: Breacher doesn't actually kill Gypsy's boyfriends, he just scares the wits out of them with his Ax-Crazy overprotective dad routine; by the end of his "hunt", the guy is so sincerely terrified of him that when he offers to spare them if they'll break up with his daughter they immediately agree and then take off. After all, who'd want to push somebody so obviously psycho to get serious? This would neatly explain why Gypsy seems to just brush it off when Breacher sets his sights on Cisco, and is certainly more believable than a police officer being allowed to kill people for hooking up with his daughter.
• Angst? What Angst?: Gypsy is astonishingly cavalier about her father's habit of murdering her boyfriends.
• Fridge Brilliance:
  • There's an extra layer to Barry hating Ralph Dibny: Barry has established earlier in the episode that he has finally moved on from Nora Allen's death. Ralph shows up, and with it is the memory of their mutual That One Case of which Barry is sorely reminded of his mother's murder again.
  • Ralph using his new powers to...shake hands with Barry. It's a sign that Ralph may have accepted the offer, but the distance he puts between them means he might not be ready to bury the hatchet between them just yet.
• Narm:
  • For whatever reason, the effects guys placed Ralph's elongated leg so that Iris chooses to run down the hall on the side where she has hardly any room rather than staying as far away as possible.
• Special Effect Failure: The effects used to turn Ralph/Hartley's washboard abs into flab look more doughy, especially given that his navel is off and in some shots missing.
