- So Bad, It's Good: While the human scenes are alright, the scenes with the Mangler are unintentionally hilarious due to the terrible laser and explosion effects that make it ridiculously blatant how shoehorned the sudden change from a zombie movie to an alien movie is.
- Special Effect Failure: The lasers shot from the Mangler's eyes, as well as the resulting explosions, are very obvious last-minute edits lazily superimposed over freeze-frame shots of the monster and its victims, thanks to a baffling halfway-through-filming decision to change the Mangler from a zombie to an alien.
