YMMV / Star Trek Voyager S 2 E 20 "Investigations"

Go To

  • Angst? What Angst?: Chakotay has every reason to be bothered by the other members of the bridge crew pulling this crazy plot behind his back, but he never really raises much of a fuss about it beyond this episode.
  • Anti-Climax Boss: Jonas. All that scheming behind the backs of the crew, and he gets owned by Neelix. And we never even find out why he was so willing to sell everyone out, other than the implication back in "Alliances" that he was swayed by Hogan's speech about giving technology to the Kazon in return for their protection—but that doesn't explain why he'd be willing to trust them, let alone Seska.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: "I'm a doctor, not a performer."
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: "Investigations" gets some flak from fans and critics for being a sudden and anticlimactic end to season 2's Story Arc, and it's been speculated that this is why the show was reluctant to commit to story arcs again. The whole thing with the Kazon spy on Voyager didn't generate a lot of interest because the Kazon just didn't go over that well with fans (who were more interested in Seska anyway), and to rub salt in the wound, the guy to uncover the plot was Plucky Comic Relief Neelix! As a side note, A Briefing With Neelix, despite being a nice little framing device, seems to have only been introduced in this episode solely to tie up the arc - in fact, this Show Within a Show was only ever mentioned again once, in Season 3's "Macrocosm."
