YMMV / Star Trek: Deep Space Nine S02E04 "Invasive Procedures"

Go To

  • Retroactive Recognition: Tim Russ, playing a Klingon mercenary, would become much more familiar to Star Trek fans not long after this. And this isn't the first time he played a mercenary, appearing on Star Trek: The Next Generation in the episode "Starship Mine".
  • Rooting for the Empire: Some fans who thought Jadzia Dax was boring wished that the much more expressive and driven Verad Dax became a permanent replacement.
  • Special Effect Failure: The scene where Bashir removes the symbiont from Jadzia and places it inside Verad looks more like it's pulled from under a skin-coloured plastic sheet and put under another one.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: One would think that a story about Jadzia getting separated from Dax would be a fascinating character study of which personality traits really originate from which half of the whole, and finally give Jadzia some character development as an individual (as nearly all of what we learn about her personally throughout the series, rather than the previous hosts of the symbiont, is really just learning the basics about her species). Instead, Jadzia spends most of the episode unconscious, and Dax is treated as little more than a memory bank for its current host to access.
