  • Fridge Horror: Due to the game's lack of a plot, the Uwabami boss fight which has the snake monster's handler and the monster itself disguised as a mother and son raises some questions. The scenario starts with the handler suddenly decapitating the boy, just as the Uwabami slithers out of the kid's neck-hole as she reveals herself to be the monster's owner. While said handler is evil from default, is the child a mere shell used as a disguise? Or did the handler kidnap and sacrifice an actual child via decapitation to unleash her monster? And if she did, then what happened to the child's actual family? It's worth noting that the previous level is set in a ruined village devoid of life, so...
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: The game's effects, a blend of 3D and 2.5D, are absolutely amazing to watch, with visible effort put in considering it's one of the Sega Saturn's last titles. The water actually flows in a realistic manner, the gorn effects are impressively well done, and the bosses' designs are borderline eye-popping. Quoting Kurt Kalata (on the Tsuchigumo boss):
    "Its beautiful animation almost makes you forget how hideous it looks."
