- Alternative Character Interpretation:
- Has Knuckles' intelligence taken a nosedive in this short or is it still consistent with his character in the movies where he's a serious yet gullible character?
- Given that Sega had a larger involvement in the making of this short, it's not unlikely that Depending on the Writer was in effect.
- Is Tails much more cowardly in this short or is he still going through some Character Development?
- Has Knuckles' intelligence taken a nosedive in this short or is it still consistent with his character in the movies where he's a serious yet gullible character?
- Epileptic Trees: Despite the fact that he'll most likely remain a one-off character, many are guessing Unit will end up being a Canon Character All Along with the most popular guess being Omega.
- Questionable Casting: Some fans felt shocked about Tails and Knuckles being recast. Knuckles' recasting is understandable because Idris Elba is a big name and was most likely unavailable and/or expensive, but Tails's raised more eyebrows because Colleen O'Shaughnessey isn't as big a name as Elba or even Sonic's voice actor, Ben Schwartz, on top of her already working for Sega Sammy (which owns Marza Animation Planet, who animated the short) as Tails' VA for the games.
