• Ensemble Dark Horse: S-3V3 or Steve, as he comes to call himself, has gained a lot of popularity among readers for being a very well-written example of What Measure Is a Mook?, bringing some humanity to the Autobot-side of the conflict, his genuinely sweet relationship with his superior Nautica and the fact that he himself is just a really nice guy who just so happens to work for the wrong side. Readers liked him so much that when he captured Raf in Volume 3, the comment section was full of people congratulating him on a job well done.
• Moral Event Horizon: Orion Pax/Optimus Prime crossed it when he killed his predecessor, Sentinel Prime, to sabotage the Decepticon movement and framed Megatron, who viewed him as a brother, for the murder. If that wasn't enough to cement him as the Big Bad, him brutally disfiguring and crippling Soundwave by tearing out his voicebox in an effort to keep Soundwave from telling people the truth about Sentinel Prime's death certainly did.
• Unexpected Character: Sari and Isaac Sumdac being part of the human cast certainly came as a surprise to many readers.
• Stoic Woobie:
  • Soundwave was a heroic freedom fighter long before the founding of the Decepticons, running an Underground Railroad of sorts for Minicons who wanted to escape the brutality of Cybetron's caste system. After getting captured during the war, he had to watch his faithful companion Laserbeak be taken away by Ratchet, then had his voice box torn out and was horrifically mutilated by the Autobots' leader, Optimus Prime. In the present, he's had his entire face-plate replaced with an expressionless visor and can only communicate through playing back sentences or words he recorded.
  • Shockwave was one of the senators behind the caste system who came to see the error of his ways after realizing how unfair and callous Functionism actually was. His role as a Decepticon double-agent was eventually uncovered and he was forced to give up information via a Cortical Psychic Patch and was subjected to Empurata and Shadowplay right after, turning him into an emotionless, expressionless shell of his former self.
