YMMV / Shank

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The games have a pretty awesome score.
  • Fetish Retardant: Some of the female enemies look kinda hot (such as buxom Latinas, clad mostly in fishnets and/or pantyhose, sometimes with styled streaks), but their over-extended clenched mouths when they die though....
  • Game-Breaker:
    • The Sledgehammer from Shank 2. While its base damage is somewhat tame in comparison to the other heavy weapons in the game, its fast attack speed (despite being labelled as the slowest of the heavy weapons overall) and great bonus damage towards big enemies and Shield-Bearing Mooks allows you to mow down any kind of enemy with ease. You can even defeat all bosses in less than a minute by solely using the Sledgehammer during their whole fights.
    • The Shotgun also gets quite a notch of effectiveness in Shank 2. While it dealt average damage in balance to its shooting speed in the first game, its damage is cranked up in the sequel, as you can kill most enemies with it in only one or two shots. The big and fat enemies don't take long to die with the Shotgun either, though the bosses are still pretty resilient towards it.
  • Goddamned Bats:
  • Small enemies in Shank 2. They're very fast, dodge a lot of your attacks and attack either by flinging explosives or by grabbing, which inflicts tons of damage. Oh, and they always come after you in groups.
  • Women in Shank 2, too. They inflict even more damage than in the first game and their attacks have outrageous range, meaning you can't easily counterattack. Plus, they jump and dodge a lot more.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: In Co-Op Multiplayer, if one player character moves past the other whilst the other is standing still, the former will do a rolling flip over the latter. During this time, the latter character cannot move, since they're acting as a fulcrum. This mechanic has caused more deaths during both games' multiplayer modes than any other element.
  • That One Level:
    • "Bombs and Bells" from the first game. It wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that Angelo takes an RPG and shoots rockets at you every five seconds, making the level a LOT harder than it needed to be.
    • "Last Resort" and "Deconstruction" from Shank 2 if you play Hard Mode, not much for the enemies but because there's only ONE checkpoint in each. This, alongside the fact both levels are very long and choke-full of enemies and traps with few tequila bottles for replenishing health, means that you'll have to replay the entire level from the start if you die too soon.
