- Award Snub: The Academy declared it ineligible for the Oscars on the grounds that it had aired on television first. This was quite controversial at the time and led to many filmmakers such as Frank Capra and Federico Fellini writing letters demanding for the rules to be changed. It did get nominated and win at the Golden Globes, however.
