YMMV / Rick And Morty S 5 E 4 Rickdependence Spray

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Is the President ignoring Summer's ideas because he's sexist, or because he still has a grudge against Rick and his family? Since this trait is very new for the character, it's unclear which is more likely.
  • Bile Fascination: Due to the heavy amounts of Squick featured, up to the point of Nausea Fuel, some viewers just watch the episode to see how gross it really is and why it's frequently referred to by fans, and even the production team themselves, as "the worst Rick & Morty episode".
  • Bizarro Episode: Even to the standards of Rick and Morty, this episode is plain weird. What else can you say about an episode that features anthropomorphic sperm?
  • Crosses the Line Twice: This episode crosses so many lines that it's hilarious, from Morty using a breeding mount to jerk himself out to the United States indirectly using Summer's egg to make a giant incest baby.
  • Creepy Cute: Sticky, one of the sperm monsters, is pretty adorable once it recognizes Morty as its father and becomes protective of him.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: Many fans skip over the episode to watch the next one due to the 'weird' stuff in this episode.
  • Squick: The whole episode revolves around sperm monsters indirectly created by a 14-year-old boy and one of said sperm monsters fertilizes an egg taken from his sister. Plus a brief scene of an anthropomorphic horse giving birth to a Half-Human Hybrid... Yeah, easily one of the show's grosser episodes.
  • The Woobie: Summer. She comes up with the idea to attract the sperm, but her idea is ignored till a male character comes up with it (and he gets all the credit). Then after she donates an egg for the plan, she finds out whose sperm it really is...
