YMMV / Richard Jeni

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • He opened A Big Steaming Pile of Me with five minutes or so of Michael Jackson jokes because MJ was the one topic he could riff on "without pissing anybody off." By 2009 both men were dead.
    • His "depressing love songs" bit from Platypus Man is cringe-inducing when you know that Jeni later killed himself. And not by any of the methods he pantomimed. To add an extra layer of sad to this, the bit itself concerns being depressed and collapsing under the weight of loneliness after a breakup. Jeni actually had a girlfriend at the time of his death - she's the one who found his body.
    • The entirety of "Big Steaming Pile of Me" sounds like a overlong "Stop me from eating my gun" sketch in retrospect.
