- Older Than They Think: Although often In Cold Blood is credited as the first Non Fiction novel, "Operation Massacre" was published nine years before. And the novel in fact was pretty well known not only in Argentina but in the Hispanic world too, and spawned other non-fiction novels, as "Un millón de muertos", from José María Giranolla, a document about the Spanish Civil War.
- For the English world, though, it is expectable that this work is an Ur-Example of the genre (as it was only translated to English in 2013), and In Cold Blood is the Trope Codifier.
