  • Awesome Music: The very distinctive theme music, in use since the program began in 1980. Composer George Fenton describes how he composed it in this BBC video.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Kirsty Wark ending the halloween 2013 edition by dancing to Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
  • Funny Moments:
Kirsty Wark: You might have seen the demand by Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell that BBC One should play 'God Save the Queen' at the end of the day's programming to mark our departure from the EU. Well, we're not BBC One and it's not quite the end of the day, but we're happy to oblige. Goodnight."
"God Save the Queen" by Sex Pistols plays over the end credits
    • Jeremy Paxman, with a straight face, asking Silvio Berlusconi, "Is it true that you called [Angela Merkel] an unfuckable lard-arse?", right out of the blue.
    • Paxman interviewing former BBC chairman Michael Lyons on the quality of BBC Three's programming.
Lyons: The BBC should concentrate on distinctive programme-making. What do I mean by that? I mean those things that it's appropriate for a public service broadcaster to concentrate on and then, in terms of the quality, programmes that stand out from what's being provided by other broadcasters.
Paxman: Let me give you a list of "distinctive programmes". Help Me Anthea, I'm Infested. Is that the sort of programme the BBC should continue making?
Lyons: Well, um, we're getting here into personal judgements about what —
Paxman: Absolutely. My Man Boobs and Me, how about that? My Dog Is As Fat As Me. Freaky Eaters. Fat Men Can't Hunt. Now, are these the sort of programmes the BBC should be making?
  • Writer Revolt: Jeremy Paxman when the BBC tried to introduce a weather report at the end, which led to a series of snarky weather reports:
"So finally and controversially, tomorrow's weather forecast. It's a veritable smorgasbord. Sun, rain, thunder, hail, snow, cold, wind. Almost worth going to work."
