YMMV / Napoleon: Total War

Go To

  • Difficulty Spike: Napoleon's campaigns get harder with each one even on easy. Italy is a walk in the park and you are likely to only get delayed due to outmarching your own supply lines. Egypt, while you have to deal with rebellions, is not that difficult unless you really botch things. Europe gets much harder since you actually fight multiple factions at once who will attack.
  • That One Level:
    • The naval battle of Trafalgar, a luck-based and chaotic melee that can turn against you with terrifying speed. As the French, you're given a powerful squadron, but nowhere near as strong as the British fleet bearing down on you. Your AI-controlled Spanish allies, meanwhile, Leeroy Jenkins towards the British, and then run screaming at the first whiff of powder. And that's on normal.
    • Taking a city in the Egypt campaign, probably means you have to evacuate the entire regular army. Unless you get enough militia, expect to have to constantly deal with large rebellions and hours of sieges as you wait out the clock. You will likely have to create buildings that produce military units to ensure that a rebellion does not break out, and depending on the region, it could take a lot. While they aren't serious, it becomes very aggravating.
