YMMV / Musical Touken Ranbu Tokyo Kokoro Oboe

Go To

  • Broken Base:
    • Audiences were divided on whether they liked this installment because of its trippy nature. Some people liked how the play dared to be different and enjoyed the themes proposed by the story, while others were turned off by the confusing story and the fact that it needed to be rewatched multiple times to be understood, and maybe not even then, which wasn't possible while it was still being performed.
    • Samidare Gou and Murakumo Gou were introduced in this installment mere months (about two and one month gap, respectively) after debuting in the browser game, which pissed off three factions: Browser game only players who believe they were only introduced in the browser game to justify their inclusion in the musical lineup and dislike the amount of crossover between the browser game and mixed media in recent years, people who enjoy both the musicals and the browser game but are upset that they waited years for their favorite characters to be added to the musicals, only for two new (at the time) Touken Danshi to be added immediately, and those who think the Gou swords have gotten too much special treatment in the musicals. On the other hand, there are people who like the Gou school swords and were happy more were given plot relevant focus.
  • Iron Woobie: Suishinshi gets puts through a lot of painful mindfuckery in this play in his journey to understand Mikazuki Munechika, but he still perseveres and resolves to help, if not save him in the end.
  • Memetic Mutation: Because of the show's confusing plot line, "I don't get it" would trend on X (formerly known as Twitter) after each performance.
  • Moe: One thing fans can agree on is that Suinshinshi Masahide is adorable. Not so much when he's suffering, but in general.
