• Poor Man's Substitute: Robert Montgomery in the kind of role tailor-made for Cary Grant.
• Values Dissonance: Ann getting all worked up about protecting herself from David when she finds out they aren’t really married, and being shocked when he acts as if they're still married. But she lived with him for three years, everyone she knows has known them as a married couple, and this technicality is somehow ruining her virtue? This probably seemed silly even for 1940s standards.
