YMMV / Monster Loves You!

Go To

  • Accidental Aesop: While Monster Loves You! could be called a morality tale, the way the game's morality system works can create results implying that being evil is better than being nothing at all. This may be part of the reason some versions of the game changed the name of one ending from "Dissolve into Mediocrity" to "Modest Legacy."
  • Fridge Brilliance: The reason most monsters live such short lives while elders are Long-Lived makes sense when you consider that they're essentially Mooks and Bosses. Mooks are nobodies expected to die en-masse, while Bosses are important and therefore supposed to last.
    • Another analogy between the hierarchal system of Monster Loves You and video game enemies in general are ancient monsters such as the Oldest Monster. The Oldest Monster dwarves entire hovels, can kill another monster the same size as it, and is so powerful in general that even Elders with high ferocity won't dare challenge it. Doesn't that sound like an RPG Final Boss?
