  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The golden route in particular, but ESPECIALLY the final boss and ending. Throughout the route you're constantly warned of the formidable "reaper king," but when you finally meet him he's literally Ultra Instinct Shaggy! The ending somehow gets even more insane from there...
  • Game-Breaker: Multiple. The Seitengrat that can be equipped as early as Lv.1 can be obtained relatively early on if you know where to find it and it is by far the most powerful weapon in the game. Along with that, the limit breaks Kaiser Dragon and ESPECIALLY Sensayu completely break the game, Kaiser Dragon dealing 99,999 celestial damage if AP is at max and you have surpassing power equipped and Sensayu using Obliterate dealing garneted 99,999 celestial damage. That's not even mentioning the Zodiac Ensensuion which allows you to absorb every element or the secret Valmanway sword which gives you infinite BP. Though you have to work REALLY hard for these equipment. Kaiser Dragon, Obliterate, and the Zodiac Ensensuion all require you to defeat powerful superbosses, the Seitengrat has only a 0.1% to spawn, and the Valmanway is a 5% drop from an extremely rare enemy.
  • Goddamned Boss: Rayakois. Literally unkillable in the 1.0 release and still insanely tough in the 2.0 release, remaining invincible until nearly your entire party is dead.
  • Ho Yay: Multiple.
    • Jeht is explicitly stated to be gay, and his arc revolves around his crush on Tayo and how he deals with it.
    • Koros and Tayo are also given decent ship tease early on, though later on it’s revealed that both of them are clearly straight.
  • Nightmare Fuel
    • Basically the entire Shou sidequest. It is inspired by a creepypasta (and hentai) after all.
    • Buried Alive is a terrifying encounter, though the design is pretty much entirely ripped from Zelda.
    • The archfiends appearing out of nowhere, especially when you don't expect it.
    • Zenith's nightmare.
    • The encounter with ABYSSEYES in the Eternal Stairway.
    • The Deep Dream area.
  • Player Punch: The good ending is very emotional, especially with "Drifting Souls" from Xenoblade 2 playing in the background.
