- Accidental Innuendo: Koyuki does this to Kazuki all the time. It's especially poignant in the dungeon of Volume 3."Even though... even though I had decided not to get involved with anyone already. Even though I planned not to fall in love with anyone. Why are you getting inside me like this... slithering inside..."
- Fridge Horror: Former headmaster Otonashi is in a coma after Nyarlathotep was removed from him, which doesn't bode well for Kazuki's chances of ever redeeming Kaya from her possession by Loki.
- Love to Hate: Loki is definitely a cruel and chaotic Diva with almost no redeeming qualities, but few can deny that he's skilled at manipulating factions that are far stronger than his own group, allowing him to remain relevant as a villain long after his first defeat.
- Moral Event Horizon:
- Nyarlathotep was always on the far side of this, but his mostly fatal experiments on people to turn them into elves, and then into mindless slaves establishes him as irredeemably evil.
- Basileus aka Lucifer crosses it by crashing Atlantis near Japan in order to drown the country in a tidal wave, all to distract Kazuki during their battle. This undermines his claims of acting in humanity's interests.
