• Alternative Character Interpretation: When Mr. Hollingsworth declines his goon's suggestion to fight the people off their lands by insisting he didn't want any bloodshed, was he saying this because even a tycoon like him has limits or was he being pragmatic and thinking about the bad PR the conflict could bring the railroad company?
• Harsher in Hindsight: The episode ends with Laura's narration that the railroad was built in another town (Tracy) and Walnut Grove remained the same. Comes the finale, "The Last Farewell", and the town is threatened by another tycoon, and this time they have no legal loophole to get rid of him and are forced to destroy their buildings, wiping Walnut grove off the map, almost as if Laura's statemente suffered a Retcon.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Jenny is completely absent during the episode, even when Laura and Almanzo discuss whether or not she and their daughter Rose should stay in Walnut Grove or leave until the conflict ends. You'd think they'd mention the niece who's been living with them for at least several weeks after her father's death.
