• Ho Yay: Justified with Zed and Noah since they never had any other friends until age 15.
• Iron Woobie: Zed lives in a town closed off from the world, his best friend has been on life support for years, his father died before he was born, and his mother's completely insane. He ends up as a gloomy delinquent who tries to end an entire war. Noah is probably a better example, cheerfully saying he wants to enjoy his short lifespan. When he gets to Neotopia and goes through Deus Angst Machina twice, he decides to become stronger. Ginga is one once his background story is shown. It gives his reason for becoming a cyborg. That kind of makes him a literal Iron Woobie.
