• Esoteric Happy Ending: While the special ends on a more-or-less positive note, it also shows the Ark survived. The Ark, the Big Bad the entire series was spent fighting, is alive and roaming the Internet freely, calling into question just what our heroes accomplished in the end.
• Rooting for the Empire: There's a lot more people rooting for Kuroto than Gai, even though the latter is technically a good guy now. Kuroto is hammy and fun no matter what side he's on, while Gai was a smug jerkass with a very contested Heel–Face Turn and considered an inferior counterpart to him. Some are even hoping for Kuroto to kill Gai so he finally gets an actual comeuppance for everything he did in Zero-One.
• Unexpected Character: While Kuroto himself was already this, no one expected that Masamune Dan would show up as well.
