• Fridge Logic: The supposedly omniscient alien brain had the effigies steal the gun as opposed to the liquid oxygen that could actually harm it. Also, if the effigies were just illusory, how could they physically steal the gun? Furthermore, if the workshop was likewise illusory, how could the astronauts make the gun in it in the first place?
• Special Effects Failure: The aforementioned scenes involving the spider and the rat. The rat is a goofy stop-motion model, and the spider is black-and-white stock-footage of a real tarantula (seemingly from Earth vs. the Spider) intercut with footage of some plastic fangs mauling one of the astronauts in color. Even more hilariously, the spider sounds a bit like the Tasmanian Devil.
