- Awesome Music: The film features some excellent needle drops. Most notable Luna's remix of "Bonnie and Clyde" which plays in Zoe's apartment, and Sonic Youth's "Tunic (Song for Karen)", which plays during Maggie's freak out in her hotel room.
- The Woobie: Zoe is an overworked costume designer who has to put up with Rene's arcane and constantly changing demands under a very strict time frame while facing intense suspicion from Rene's assistant about her private life and history of drug use, which is implied to be motivated by professional jealousy more than anything else. On top of that, she gets turned down for a date by Maggie Cheung but ends up having to deal with gossip that she got her drunk and seduced her anyway, which could have serious consequences for her career.
