  • Base-Breaking Character: Synod. While some love her, others find her annoying.
  • Broken Base: Chapter 28 of Deputy Commander. Quite a few readers disliked Brockton Bay being quarantined out of the blue or thought it unjustified, but some people wanted to see how the author would salvage it, and some people said it needed to be retconned to keep from ruining everything. Still others thought that it was a cool plot twist and wanted to see what stories would result.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • A few scant mentions regarding Taylor's estranged aunt Margaret, a Sarah Connor Expy, whose daughter Rose pretends to be, have thrown the Emissary thread into rapid construction of possible backstories for the character or her future prominence in the story. All despite the in-universe reasoning for mentioning her explicitly depending on her uninvolvement.
Rolyat: The less said about Aunt Margaret, the better.
    • Emissary's take on Browbeat turned a character that very few people remember from canon into a Comically Serious Cloud Cuckoo Lander that has proven surprisingly popular with the fans.
    • Synod. Synod is a wonderful ball of adorableness that readers came to absolutely adore.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Aisha's new power is that she removes any memories you have while looking at her. She could have a whole conversation with you and you'd never know it.
