- Harsher in Hindsight: If Pokédex Entries Were Mega Literal ended with a gag about Xatu being believed to never move out of fear of what it has seen in the future. The aforementioned layoffs happened only four days later.
- Squick: If Pokédex Entries Were Supremely Literal has an In-Universe example involving Metapod's Pokédex entry. In this case, Pikipek keeps attacking it until it falls over and spills its organs, making it feel disgusted and horrified.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: For months people asked for the "Literal Pokédex Entries" videos to include Phantump, the ghost of a dead child. When it finally did include it was a footnote in a video hijacked by characters from the Pokémon Rusty series.
- The Woobie: Missing No from If Pokédex Entries Were Literal (Volume ???) just wants to be accepted, but people are driven to insanity upon seeing him. Arceus tells him off as being a mistake, and when it seems he's finally gotten a loving trainer, his "Item Duplication" glitch triggers and smothers the trainer to death.
