YMMV / Ice and Fire

• Alternative Character Interpretation: Due to the moral ambiguity and complexity of the characters and plot. Many of the fic's events and backgrounds can be viewed in a different light. Even In-Universe the characters actions and motives are interpretated in many ways. Some specific examples:
  • Is Caedron a good Parental Substitute to Kallen and did the best he could raising her, or did he end up pushing her down a dark path for selfish reasons relating to his past and guilt for them. In-Universe it's subtly hinted that over time he has shifted to viewing himself as the latter and him pushing Kallen to connect with Lelouch is his way of making amends.
  • Did Rai quit being part of the Noppera-bō just because of his growing feelings for Nunnally and doubts about Zero? Or was this another case of his Brilliant, but Lazy personality and simply never really caring much for Zero and the Noppera-bo's goals beyond superficial levels?
  • Were Lelouch and Kallen doing what they thought was best for Nunnally by withholding from her knowledge of an experiment that was done with unethical and immoral practises, despite the possibility it could restore her capacity to walk. Or were they acting hypocritical, more so in Kallen's case considering some of the activities her group gets up to and denying Nunnally the choice of deciding for herself?
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Caedron for many is one of the strongest points of the fic, for his complex personality, interesting past and for his general relationship with Kallen driving the plot along in many places.
  • His niece OC Intelligence officer Adrianne is one for her Boring, but Practical approach to uncovering Zero's identity, believable insights into Zero's personality and holes in their disguise, along with the cat and mouse game she has with Tamaki.
• Funny Moments: Cornelia lets Suzaku be Euphemia's knight under some conditions, one of which is that he avoid deflowering her sister under penalty of having his "miniscule manhood" cut off and fed to him. Euphie's response?
  "Dear sister, for the record, Suzaku is quite well-endowed."
• Take That, Scrappy!: Ohgi's death in chapter counts as this for many due to his actions in canon and Tamaki being the one to do him in.
