- Tough Act to Follow: While it's agreed that Burst Apart and Familiars are fine, if not amazing albums, it still stands that Hospice remains their greatest and most well-known work.
- The Woobie: The hospital worker.
- Iron Woobie: In the end, the hospital worker's dedication to the patient is purely out of love, even if it's obvious how it's going to turn out.
- Jerkass Woobie: The cancer patient, in turn, is very abrasive, even borderline abusive. However, it's understandable considering that she's had a rough childhood and is now dying.
