• Harsher in Hindsight: In the 2020's, Britain has just commissioned the two largest vessels ever to serve in the Royal Navy - both aircraft carriers. Informed opinion is that HMS Queen Elizabeth in particular is living out the trials and tribulations of the fictitious Leviathan- right down to the strange coincidence that she had to limp back to port on her shakedown cruise following a catastrophic failure of the propulsion system. She has also lost a fighter aircraft following a crash. It's almost as if the novel is a blueprint for all the things that are currently going wrong in reality.
