• It Was His Sled: Basically everyone who was an Australian kid who liked to read during the 90s knows the plot twist, and it was a doozy for its time. There is no space travel, there is no planet Vexak or alien race. The children never left earth. The Galax-Arena is an Elaborate Underground Base hidden in the Australian bushland. Children are being experimented on and done to death all right, but it's not for the entertainment of an alien race - it's for the elderly wealthy investors bankrolling a project called Genesis 5. And what is Genesis 5 researching exactly? The possibility of artifically extending lifespan by applying adrenal surges produced by children in near-fatal and downright fatal situations. The children are made to believe they've been abducted by aliens and are trapped on another planet so that they consider themselves completely beyond any kind of help, rescue or escape.
