  • Les Yay: In Golden Ashes it's stated that the tragic events of the novel drew Betty and Agatha "closer together" and by the end of the book they're cohabiting. But the nature of their relationship is left up to the reader.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In Sir John Magill's Last Journey, the police discount a political motive for Sir John's murder, as The Troubles "were definitely over and had been for years." Later history showed that the Troubles were very far from over by 1930.
  • Values Dissonance: The Groote Park Murder is partly set in 1920s South Africa, and its portrayal of 'Negro' and 'coloured' characters has not aged well.
