- Audience-Alienating Era: The 1980s revival of the cereal. The characters were turned into aliens, made surfers, and given entirely different names and personalities. This, along with an entirely different cereal, spelled disaster for the rebranding. The cereal itself only lasted for a year, while the characters returned to their original designs and personalities for subsequent nostalgic merchandise.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Nifty Nifty, the Freakie that was considered but never released shares a lot of similarities with the actually-released Ms. Pink. Both are high class pink-wearing executives that demand to see the product itself go pink.
- Ugly Cute: The Freakies are small and lumpy monsters with wacky and over-exaggerated designs and detailed shading. Despite this, they have fans thanks to their fun personalities, along with an odd air of cuteness at the same time.
