YMMV / Family Guy S 4 E 9 Breaking Out Is Hard To Do

• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Corey Haim is depicted as living in a sewer and feeding on rats. Five years after this episode aired, Haim passed away. Tragic enough, but what really fits the trope is the fact that Haim was so destitute at the time of his death it took a combination of charity and donations just to send his body across North America from Burbank to his native Ontario for burial.
  • Lois gets hooked on the rush of shoplifting to fill the void inside of her, leading to her getting arrested and put in prison before Peter breaks her out. She comes to regret her crimes and plans to turn herself in before she ends up saving Joe's life and he convinces the judge to drop the charges. However, a much later episode would not only have Lois commit theft for no reason other than because she was jealous, but she would nearly ruin the life of the person she stole from just to protect her reputation, with none of the remorse she shows in this episode.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: While at Lois' book club, Peter attempts to feign intelligence by pointing out that "the book can also be a hat" and putting it on his head. A later episode would have Peter essentially do the opposite by using a book as a hatweight instead of a hat.
