• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • The Overly Long Gag of Joe crying due to being outdone by the perp is almost a glimpse into the massive Badass Decay that he went through in later episodes.
  • Jealous of Joe's success, Peter edits together a tape that makes it look like he's become handicapped (which, predictably, nobody falls for), hoping to achieve the same success as Joe. A later episode would have a fight break out between Peter and Joe over the former's treatment of handicapped people that ends with him becoming physically handicapped for real.
  • In a similar vein, the reason why Peter claimed to be disabled to begin with was because Brian told him that the face that Joe is handicapped makes his story more compelling. The following season's "Petarded" would have Peter learn that he also has a disability (albeit mental, not physical), and rather than being Inspirationally Disadvantaged like Joe, Peter would go in the complete opposite direction and use his disability as an excuse to get away with whatever he liked, the eventual consequences of which would tear the family apart.
