YMMV / Elden Ring The Convergence

Go To

  • Game-Breaker: Game Breakers left untouched by the mod not-withstanding, Convergence has its own slew of powerful tools available to the player that border on being Purposely Overpowered tying in with the mod being more designed with the player's quality of life in mind:
    • Golden Displacement, which is just Radagon's Teleport Spam in incantation form is this. While it lacks a lot of fine control, being only able to travel in the direction you're walking and quite far unless you're trying to trudge through swampy terrain, the massive distance you cover allows you to safely reposition for a small FP cost so you can more effectively dodge attacks then heal than you could by simply dodging and hoping you heal at the perfect moment between an enemy's attack strings, and also makes chasing down certain enemies who tend to run away from you a lot easier. And for the truly impatient, its definitely a lot faster than riding Torrent so if you're not planning on fighting anything from point-A to point-B you can travel the lands between as a flash of golden light.
    • Dragonkin Devastation is a frozen lightning spell that fires several bubbles that fly into the air in a small area in front of you, then rain devastation in that area. Not only do the lightning bolts do massive lightning damage on their own, they also inflict frostbite, which once procced will cause the lightning to do even more damage. Additionally, charging the spell causes the bolts that strike the ground to explode and send bolts careening across the ground, adding even more splash damage to the mix. And the cherry on top is the spell's absolutely massive poise damage it deals, whereas enemies that can be knocked down will be thrown around willy-nilly by the bolts striking the ground, bosses, particularly larger ones will take the full brunt of the spell, possibly taking several thousands to tens of thousands of points worth of damage while also being staggered, leaving them open for you to recast the spell to perpetuate a very devastating Cycle of Hurting.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: This is part of the mod's selling points, examples include:
    • The Lake of Rot has been massively overhauled into an actual dungeon rather than a flat plane you run from one end to the next on your way to Astel. Most notably the player is required to find the buttons that raised platforms in the Lake in order to progress down to the aqueduct rather than simply tanking the entire lake.
    • Holy damage has been saved by virtue of its damaging spells and skills being buffed and enemies no longer being so universally resistant to it with obvious exceptions such as Margit and The Elden Beast.
  • Take That, Scrappy!: Gideon's long speech he makes to you as you ascend towards the Erdtree is quickly interrupted by Skarde impaling him from behind and replacing him as the boss fought before Godfrey, while sharing many of the sword wielding Crucible Knights parry-able sword swings, he makes up for it by being a Lightning Bruiser in comparison to the Mighty Glaciers that are the other Crucible Knights, and has a more varied and aggressive moveset, providing much more of a challenge in comparison to Gideon who is normally famous for also being Killed Mid-Sentence by players.
