YMMV / Digimon Adventure 02: D-1 Tamers

Go To

  • Designated Hero: The Four Holy Beasts coming up with the D1 Tournament specifically to train Ryo to fight Millenniummon is understandable. Tricking the Chosen Children into playing along (though they're told the truth a lot earlier than Ryo was) is a bit shady, but still understandable. But making sure that one of the dungeons Ryo is sent to for training will not let him out unless he sacrifices one of his own Digimon is a lot less forgivable.
  • Fanon: Those among the fandom who've never played the game believe that the Chosen Children was in on it being a sham from the start. They'd actually been tricked as well, though they are told the truth well before Ryo is. Mimi and Taichi, for example, take pains to apologise for not warning him the moment they found out.
  • Game-Breaker: Two words. DEADLY. STING. This seemingly innocuous technique is much more dangerous than it seems. Step 1: Catch a Flymon. Step 2: Win the game.note  HAVE FUN!
  • Sidetracked by the Gold Saucer: Once you beat the Toy Dungeon and recruit Digitamamon, you can start jogressing any digimon you want together, with no restrictions. It's very easy to go through dungeons you've already beaten multiple times just to catch digimon and see what they become when fused together. Fusing two of the same digimon often results in something completely different and stronger. For some people this is even the main draw of the game! This does however, paint a somewhat amusing picture of Moon=Milleniumon waiting very patiently for Ryo to finish running around jogressing everything in sight before their epic battle.
