- Badass Decay: The HVA in Deutschland 86. In three years they have gone from capers involving a potential third world war to spending their entire time at work coming up with outlandish and corrupt schemes to raise a few bucks here and there. Also a case of Ripped from the Headlines.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Frau Netz, certainly for a lot of UK viewers anyway.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: While the Miniseries performed decently back in Germany's RTL Television, and modestly on the U.S.' Sundance Channel, the best ratings actually came from the U.K.'s Channel 4 (where it served as the launch show for the 'Walter Presents' foreign language strand), where it scored the highest ratings for a foreign non-English language series.
- Nightmare Fuel: Knowing how close the world got in 1983 to nuclear Armageddon over a misunderstanding is enough to give anyone chills, and this show illustrates it perfectly.
