• Complete Monster: Cliven Ridgeway, the psychotic son of Monroeville County's crooked mayor. Under his father's rule, Cliven has been free to abuse and brutalize the townspeople, known to have gotten away with murder, arson, and rape, all while he gleefully taunts them with how untouchable he is. What's ultimately too much for the moral Chief Foster is the reveal that he kidnapped, brutally tortured, raped, and murdered little Sue Donovan.
• Moral Event Horizon: Cliven is a vile, gleefully unrepentant psychopath, but he travels well beyond this line when he kidnapped, brutally raped, tortured (when Foster sics her reanimated corpse on him, she's forced to crawl in an unnatural and jerky manner with her legs askew, indicating that they were broken or dislocated at best or paralyzed below the waist at worst), and murdered Sue Donovan. Foster is so horrified when he finds one of Sue's scrunchies in Cliven's hideout that he instantly throws away his code of ethics and decides to turn Cliven over to the lynch mob that he had previously rebuked and threatened to lock up, and sets the zombified Sue on him and lets her devour him alive in front of the mob.
• The Woobie: Poor, poor, poor Sue Donovan.
  • Sue's father Joe has it just as bad, if not worse, spending the whole episode a blubbering wreck after what Cliven did to his beloved daughter.
