• Nightmare Fuel:
  • When unlocking Singularity for the first time, the simulation will start to crash. Scenes of the simulation switch over as the monitor glitches up and scratchy crackling computer sounds play, before you get the screen showing the big ol' blue yellow-eyed head of Singularity and the Fatal Error screen pops up. It's startling.
  • The recurring event "Life After Apocalypse" details the various mass extinctions that have occurred throughout Earth's history. Every time an extinction event is bought in the simulation, it cuts to a view of Earth as a siren goes off, and you get to see Earth go through whatever happened to it in that specific real-life event (from plunging into an ice age during the Ordovician extinction to the meteor striking the planet during the Cretaceous extinction, among others), while up above, it lists a percentage of species that were lost forever as a result. The dramatic Ominous Latin Chanting piece "Dies Irae" playing during these scenes doesn't help^note especially if you know that some of the lyrics translate to "day of wrath, day of mourning" and "when the world shall dissolve in ashes", and neither does the simulation eventually exploring two possible future extinction events: a hypothetical extinction of humans and an unknown percentage of other species, and the extinction of all Earth life when the Sun's aging and eventual death takes the Earth with it, although it does offer a "Ray of Hope" Ending in that, in that time, some life from Earth may have found its way into space and can continue from there.
