• Crack Ship: Aaron and Jay (Shiay) go to Homecoming together. Word of God says they're just there as friends but...
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Aaron Ryuu. He's managed to do enough to be liked by readers. Even the author likes him.
• Fridge Brilliance: Chapter five's title is "The Homecoming Invasion." This is appropriate for two reasons: 1) It's the night of Bulbagarden High's Homecoming dance on which Serebii's forces invade, and 2) Serebii used to live in Bulbagarden. By invading it, he's "coming home."
• Memetic Mutation: The GenV Pokemon Snivy is called "Smugleaf" (it's a nickname, yes, but...)
  • "The mayor is in our house" has become a small meme on the Bulbagarden forums.
