• Harsher in Hindsight: Willow provides Dawn with an option to resurrect Joyce that goes horribly wrong. Tara lectures both of them on how death should be respected. One season later, Willow again tries to resurrect someone, with Tara believing they were wrong to meddle with those forces, and Buffy becomes the trope namer for Came Back Wrong. And then at the end of the season, Willow's the one who has to accept Tara's death and can't bargain to bring her back.
• Special Effects Failure: The Gora is a giant immobile puppet; they did their best to make it look dangerous with cuts, smoke, and mirrors.
• Tear Dryer: Buffy stands by her mother's grave silently mourning alone. Then Angel appears to comfort her.
