YMMV / Buck Rogers XXVC

Go To

  • Creator Killer: The failure of the Buck Rogers game and its tie-ins is often seen as one of the factors in the demise of TSR.
  • Executive Meddling: TSR already had a fairly successful sci-fi RPG in Star Frontiers when Lorraine Williams took over TSR. She decided to end that line and start a new sci-fi RPG based on a known intellectual property using the then-current AD&D rules (Star Frontiers had its own incompatible rules set). The fact that she was the heiress of the Dille Familiy Trust, which owned the Buck Rogers rights, and that she therefore personally earned a royalty for every use of those rights is probably a coincidence.

  • So Okay, It's Average: It wasn't really a bad game, but it didn't do very well financially, which led to its short lifespan.
