• Awesome Music: The Leitmotif that played during the title screen of the original and in several remixes in ARCADE.
• Broken Base: The Phase system: A way to show versatility or lazy level design?
• Surprisingly Improved Sequel: ARCADE is more widely cherished than the original in several circles. The original is largely forgotten as an ordinary WiiWare title.
• That One Level:
  • The last stage in the Super NES section of the original. Forget to grab the pixelfriend before you go down the stairs, and you're sunk.
  • Flat Park Phase 10 in ARCADE, particularly rescuing the yellow pixelfriend in the one spot that the Shadow Disc sweeps under three times during its route. And when it leaves an opening, here comes several Shadow Men. Even Kubi thought it was ridiculous.
• The Scrappy: Bernd, due to being an obvious Author Avatar who gets praised by Kubi throughout the game. Him showing up everywhere he's not supposed became a meme while the Miiverse network was active.
