  • Anti-Climax Boss: Roland. Damien tells the others to "Leave Him to Me!", they square up, Damien cracks his joints... and then takes him out with a single kick to the crotch.
  • Awesome Music: "Determine" by Alonso, played over an extended introductory shot at the start.
  • Cliché Storm: Not a single character in this film avoids being some kind of modern stereotype, although there is grace in the unapologetic way it plays them.
  • Contested Sequel: The second film is considered as somewhat inferior to the first one, mainly due to its increasingly over-the-top action scenes and pretentious plot. Others see it as merely a case of Tough Act to Follow, given how the first film managed to be funny and exciting with a simpler premise, and consider the sequel as entertaining in its own right.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The film features Parisian banlieues entirely taken by crimen and ruled by ganglords in a colourful dystopy. In The New '20s, it turned out the film had only exaggerated the ridiculousness, as cities like Paris or Marseille have seen criminality rates skyrocket since.
