• Awesome Music: Although the first game only has 4 tracks that loop one after the other, they are all pretty good at evoking the feel of an underwater civilization. Theme 1, Theme 2, Theme 3, Theme 4.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Absent Mindstein is the character people are most fond of, thanks to being the first to pop up in the character select screen and because of his silly expression.
• Sequelitis: While the first game is generally considered to be So Okay, It's Average at worst, Deep Sea Tycoon 2, which was made by a different company, is criticized for being overly simplistic compared to its predecessor while lacking the good music and quirky elements that helped make the former memorable.
• Unintentional Uncanny Valley: The player characters run into this thanks to having very realistic faces on bodies with caricature-like proportions.
