• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The Toadstool costume guy turns out to simply be a costume puppetted by a bunch of bugs and dirt. Aside from potentially serving as a shout-out, this not only has no bearing on the plot, but goes completed unexplained and makes no sense.
• Memetic Mutation: A variation. The fandom catches Anne blushing suddenly at Marcy as many joked that she is starting to grow a crush on her. It doesn't help with the fact that many tries to ship Anne and Marcy ever since the latter's debut.
