YMMV / Akane-banashi

Go To

  • Narm: While audiences generally accept that Tohru's career ending so abruptly made waves in his inner circle, a lot of the readers find his narrative treatment ridiculous. He's The Ghost in nearly every chapter but the first two, but the way his friends, colleagues and family treats him feels more like a Posthumous Character when he's still very much alive and can be contacted. There's even a scene where Akane tries to talk with her mother to understand her father better and Masaki states that her father is just out for work and Akane can talk directly to him later that day.
  • Spiritual Successor: Given that Akane-banashi is a manga about performance art with a prodigy female protagonist published in Weekly Shonen Jump, many people inevitably started comparing it to the canceled act-age.
