What Could Have Been / Five Nights at Wario's: Cabin Fever

Go To

Due to the games being developed for a long time, Tagey had multiple ideas that eventually never came to be. These unused/scrapped ideas are avaible in their respective Extra pages in the games, but for semplicity they will also be written here too.

Note: Some of these have been repurposed and gave a second chance in The End Endgame quest.

     Chapter 1
  • Before the name was called Cabin Fever, it initially utilized the subtitle "Fear" and later on "Death Melody". When it was still called Death Melody, Tagey had plans on utilizing a radio as a way of surviving, but was replaced in favor of the flute. The radio will be eventually recycled for the transitions between nights.
  • There was an achievement system, but was later entirely replaced to only include trophies instead.
  • A supposed "Factory Mode" was planned to be part of the game, with Geno being the only enemy to avoid.
  • Goombella and Koops from Paper Mario were planned to be part of the game, alongside a one-eyed King Boo.
  • Cabin Wario and Cabin Luigi initially had different designs, with the former having his spine visible on top of having a skeletal leg and the latter having his eyes pop out. There's also an unused render of Cabin Mario without a ruined arm.
  • A "Horde mode" was planned as a secondary mode, acting as a survival game. The player could've had access to some weapons, being able to upgrade them through the waves until the final boss. Despite Tagey scrapping the idea, the concept might be repurposed for another game.
  • A "Grab Bag" mode was also considered, acting as a randomized custom night. The mode would've also included random singular nights, which was kept in the base game.
     Chapter 2/The End
  • A lot of the characters used for The End had different designs or had different gimmicks before being finalized.
    • An alternative version of the Wario-related monster called The Consumer was planned to replace Slammer, but Tagey decided to keep the current one due to his simpler design.
    • Trojan was initially supposed to be a shell that would've broke apart to reveal his finalized design.
    • The Retina was planned to have a redesign, but Tagey liked the current one more, so it got unused at the end.
    • Before The Skewer, there was another Waluigi-related monster called The Blinded. His gimmick was to do a squeak noise inside the same room as the player to warn them.
    • The Glitch had binary codes during his jumpscare, which translated would've said "FIND THE KEY". This was initially meant to be a secret, but was later turned into a normal part of the game during Night 3.
  • The Glitch also had a different introduction that would've appeared in the Night 3 intro segment, forcing Carlos to press "Get Help" in the monitor.
  • Katie was initially supposed to be in the same room as Carlos, and Infection was meant to appear in the cameras during their attack, forcing you to play the corrisponding notes on the monitor.
  • Night 5 initally included a character switch gimmick, done in order to stop Gramophone as Katie. This was likely changed to be the current switching method after Katie joins Carlos.
  • A smoke detector was planned to be used instead of screen tapping, and it would've worked like the Five Nights at Freddy's 3 audio mechanic.
  • For Standard mode "Team Works" challenge, Carlos would've hold Katie music sheets, while her would've utilized the Five Nights at Wario's 2 generator in her room. This was replaced for balacing concerns.
  • A bonus game like the first game was initially planned, inspired by Luigi's Mansion, where Carlos would've had to capture the ghost of Wario and his friends.
  • A planned special Christmas themed game called "Cabin Fever The End: Blizzard of Blood" was once considered, but eventually scrapped. The gameplay would've been similar to FNaW3, forcing Carlos to move to a different room each night. At the end it would've been revealed to be just a dream. The only thing that remained from the canned project were the models and the logo.
  • Alternate Reality initially was going to be based around FNaW3, but was changed with the current version. As of why the change, Tagey states that FNaW4 is much more underused in contrast of the fangames using the third entry gimmick more.
  • DK from AR initially had a more simpler design.
  • The ending of Max Mode was initially planned to be the one used in Week 2, with the photo of Melody alongside Mario and Luigi using their models. This was scrapped in favor of a drawn version due to the Melody model being poorly rigged and hard to pose.
  • The three gods had much more primitive models, and they were supposed to die. The models have since been lost, and they got completely redesigned.
  • The Crossgame quest bosses were much more different than the current ones, and would've included new monsters as well.
    • Fake Developer is the one who got the most amount of scrapped content, such as unused attacks, designs, and phases.
  • A planned Dry Waluigi was once considered, referencing a scrapped Demon Wario form from Custom Room Edition. This was scrapped in favor of the team wanting the Dark Hallway characters to be reused.
  • Carlos default model was initially more human-like, utilizing Casino Luigi as a base, but was later changed to use Astronaut Luigi model as it looked more similar to the drawn design used in Chapter 2.
  • Alternate Reality was going to take place in the first game Cabin, where Katie could've attempted to undo the curse before her spirit faded away, with the final boss being Mad Piano Melody. This was eventually replaced in favor of the Crossgame Quest.
  • A rare easter egg of Mad Piano Melody appearing at situations from pulling down the camera (like Golden Freddy) was considered but quickly cut.
  • An entirely different Title Screen and Ending were planned, with the latter being fully visible in the extras. Instead of Dry Wario attempting to kill Carlos, Emma would've arrived headfirst to stop him, and after her introduction to the player, it would've then changed with Tagey both apologizing and congratulating the player for beating the Fake Developer, giving Carlos a still decent good ending where both his daugther and wife are alive.
  • Three Easter Eggs screens for Urban Legend mode were left unused, with Tagey himself publishing them on the official Wiki fandom.
    • The images referenced Meat Canyon, Learning with Pibby and Giant Alex. It is unknown why these ended up being unused.
